Feathered Theories - Part II

My affinity for the pigeon (a good standard bird) is well documented by now. Loyal readers will no doubt recount my April 28th missive, which offered various theories of the numerous dead pigeons visible on Chicago's Interstate 90/94.

Gentle readers, I think the mystery has been solved...

As I was driving downtown this Monday afternoon, out of nowhere a pigeon, boldly and foolishly, proceeded to dive bomb my car, narrowly pulling up at the last second and avoiding a painful windshield-splatter death.

Is this a game? Is it because the pigeons think they see breadcrumbs on the highway? Is it because they are just simply THAT DUMB.

I vote yes.

Things I am Loving

So... with a baby on its way, I have been forced to shop in an entirely new arena than I have ever shopped... BABY CLOTHES!!! (And also, sadly to say maternity clothes. Which means I just spent $170 at Gap and I only purchased things that were Black, White or Grey)

Since I have attended many baby showers in my day, I know how much fun it is to give cute baby clothes as gifts. Thus, I have made a promise to myself that I would not purchase any baby clothes myself until after the showers. This has left me in a dilemma: I have found the most adorable items and I need to do something... I guess this is why I have a blog. I will post on these items and then, I can feel like I have purchased them.

(Somewhere in the distance, I am hearing Jeff cheer for the cheap-ness of my new favorite pastime)

So, without further ado... here are some of the items I am LOVING right now!
(The first one is my ultimate favorite... considering.... well.... I'll just leave that one for you to figure out. Hint: check out THIS post)

Hi, Remember Us?

Hmm...so we did a lot of stuff over the last month, and you know something? We didn't take any pictures of any of it. All of you we hung out with over that span are no doubt happy about that. So, to help you on your way, Jeff used his incredible art skills to create a handy dandy guide to what we've been up to in the last month. Ready? Go!

1. Allison has a baby in her. This isn't news, but we finally got the news out there to everyone (we think). If not, consider yourself now informed. The 20 week checkup looms...

2. Jeff's cousin, Brian Burg, and his girlfriend Lynn were in town from Switzerland (you know, just happened to be in the neighborhood and stopped by) for a few days. We went to downtown Chicago, had drinks atop the Hancock Tower, grabbed some dinner, and had a grand old night in Chi-town.

3. Jeff has played a lot of softball. Sometimes he doesn't hit so well.

4. Our friends, the Riddles, moved this weekend and we helped them in their relocating. We think their move was also a semi-covert ploy to entice us to move into their neighborhood as well. The house across the street is for sale ironically...

5. We celebrated a fair amount of times: The Cards' July 4th party, random night in Chicago with the brothers, chilling on the back patio with friends & family. We like to celebrate, and you should too.

6. 4th of July fireworks. We "oooooo"'d and "ahhhh"'d a lot with friends and a bucket of fried chicken.

7. Our dear sister, Kelly, returned home after 9 weeks in Barcelona "studying" and basically living the dream while getting a tan. We're glad she had fun, but we also are glad to have her on our side of the pond.

Asleep yet? Guess not if you're reading this sentence. I promise to try for a little more professional posting next time, you know, like maybe color stickmen or something. In the meantime, enjoy.

The Little Twins are Here!!

Jeff and I are pleased to welcome into the world this morning our first niece and nephew. My older sister, Jacquelyn has been enduring pregnancy with twins these past month, and delivered today.

Surprise, Welcome To 60!

Our Dad, David, turned 60 recently. We surprised him by catching the same flight to Florida for a few days in the sun, along with Blake and Laura. Pictures tell a thousand words, so let's just skip right to it. Happy belated birthday and Father's day, old man!

Germany!

On our second day in Luxembourg, Roby and Nancy took us on a tour of "the whole country" in just a matter of hours... :) It was fun, and included two castles...

Blog Post - Germany 2009

Frankfurt: We woke early and picked up Kelly who JUST HAPPENED to be in Frankfurt at the same time we were. After a lovely stroll by the river, breakfast, and Kelly ordering a cup of coffee the size of Liechtenstein, we bid her adios on her way to Spain and then hit the road.

Lost in the German Countryside: Here's what I can tell you based on our random meanderings throughout the countryside: (ooooh, double colons!)

- Driving on the Autobahn in a Fiat Punto (http://tinyurl.com/ol9ymn) is a bit emasculating as the Porsches, BMWs, and Audis blow by you like you're standing still

- Germans love their bicycles, and the Dutch love their campgrounds

- Ausfahrt = giggle

Heidelberg: We made it. This picturesque little city, with a holy-crap-there's-a-lot-of-stores shopping scene, and a lovely river walk is nestled in between the "mountains" south of Frankfurt. We napped in a park, we drank their beer, we rode the Funicular up the "mountain", and enjoyed a lovely time in the central square having dinner on the plaza. All the while Allison enjoyed the friendly Facebook banter.

It's breakfast and Starbucks mug shopping in the morning and then back to the airport to head towards sweet home Chicago. If you're reading this, chances are we have talked about dragging you along to a place like this, so keep that suitcase handy, you never know when we'll come a knockin.
